Touring Jamestown with Jaynii Team

Well trained guides at the Jaynii Streetwise Foundation centre will lead a tour of cultural, historic and architectural sites.

As Accra’s first and oldest town, Jamestown is rich with an interesting colonial/slave history and vibrant Ga traditions. The Walking Tour enables tourists to discover the Jamestown community on foot, learning about its history, enjoying the friendly andvibrant street atmosphere, meeting locals and trying local dishes.

Tourists will enjoy at first hand, the serene JayNii Beach, interact with the StreetWise Children. One can choose to enjoy cold drinks and sumptuous meal at the JayNii Beach while watching live drumming and dance by the Jaynii Cultural Troupe upon request.

The old Jamestown harbour where the Fisher folks continue the old fishing traditions of using canoe and mending nets etc, major colonialand slavery sites, chiefs’ palace and more.

Come directly and enter the gate of the Jaynii Beach through the right corner of the monumental Jamestown Lighthouse (NB this does not look like a clear way but there is always a Way).

We are always opened even if it looks closed. Dont be shy, just enter and ask questions. Our young brilliant and friendly guides of the Streetwise centre, born and bred in Jamestown, will offer you a walk worth the time. Tour will be operated by the JayNiiStreetWise team, a foundation which provides the welfare of vulnerable young ones in deprived communities through education, sports, arts and culture.
